The Feast Day of Saint John of God is celebrated on March 8th. Saint John of God is the patron saint of hospitals, nurses, and the sick. He was born in Portugal in 1495 and spent much of his life working as a shepherd and soldier before experiencing a religious conversion in his forties.
After his conversion, Saint John of God dedicated himself to caring for the sick and poor, establishing hospitals and other charitable institutions in cities throughout Spain and Portugal. He was known for his deep devotion to God and his compassionate care for those in need.
Saint John of God is remembered for his selfless service to others and his profound faith. His life is an example of the power of faith to inspire compassion and service, even in the most difficult of circumstances.
